Cambodia Outreach Australian Ear Care Program

Dr Eng Ooi recently returned from his 2nd trip to Battambang, Cambodia where he was part of a group of Australian ENT surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and audiologists who provide ear care to people in Cambodia who are poor and disadvantaged. 

The group work together with local Cambodian health care workers seeing patients requiring medical care, perform operations, assessing their hearing and fitting them with hearing aids (donated from Australia). 

The majority of cases performed were to repair ear drum perforations and remove cholesteatoma (chronic ear disease that can cause meningitis and brain abscesses). Over 100 patients were seen and 20 major ear operations were performed in a week. 

Medical supplies and funds brought over for the trip were kindly donated by the members of the group, ASOHNS, and hospitals in Adelaide and Victoria.

WINNERS!!! Southern Local Business Messenger Awards 2012.

Southern ENT won the Healthcare category for the Southern Region, Messenger Local business Awards on 15 September 2012. 

 

The Messenger Business awards recognises excellence in quality and service with local businesses in the community. Southern ENT was nominated for the awards this year and the votes from our patients got us into the finals. The judging process for the winner is through an independent mystery judge and safework SA. The surgeons and staff of Southern ENT attended the gala dinner awards night at the Hilton hotel where the winners were announced. 

Southern ENT were elated to have won this award for the second year.
